Khidhr & Musa (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ)

The third story in Surah Al-Kahf is about Prophet Musa (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) and a special man, of whom Allah Most High says:

and found one of Our servants-a man to whom We had granted Our mercy and whom We had given knowledge of Our own [18:65]

through authentic Hadith, we come to know that this man’s name is Khidhr.

In this story, Musa (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) embarks on a journey with Khidhr in search of deeper knowledge.

Moses said, ‘God willing, you find me patient. I will not disobey you in any way.’ [18:69]

However, along their journey, Musa (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) repeatedly questions Khidhr whenever he disagrees with his actions. Khidhr responds:

He replied, ‘Did I not tell you that you would never be able to bear with me patiently?’ [18:72]

This story makes me smile because it shows how relatable Musa (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) is. Despite his sincere desire to learn, he couldn’t resist speaking up. A prophet of God, yet human like you and me.
