An Invitation

Imagine this scenario. You had the most amazing day: woke up early, exercised, work/school, hung out with friends and got home in time for 8 hrs of sleep, YET despite all the tasks completed you feel empty inside, confused about the state of your heart.

Have you ever felt productive yet stagnant at the same time?

Well I have the answer for you in the form of an invitation.

I invite you to start the day with a habit which you enjoy that connects you with your Creator .

The reason we feel this emptiness, stagnation, anxiety, is in this verse in the Quran where Allah says

أَلَا بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ ٱلْقُلُوبُ

Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort[13.28]

Our purpose in life is to worship the One who created us. Allah Rabbul Izzah. When this purpose is put on the back-burner or neglected completely the soul feels a deep sorrow. Lack of meaning, direction, the joy that comes with remembering Allah is missing. I say a habit you enjoy because I am assuming the fundamentals are not an issue. If it is please start with the 5 daily prayers. There is nothing sweeter than the Salah with concentration. It is a gift from Allah and the closest we can be to our Creator.

Once you’ve established the prayer, pick an act of worship that you love. Alhamdulilah there are sooo many to choose from. A few examples are: giving thanks(gratitude), making sincere dua, sending peace & blessings on the Prophet ﷺ, praying the night prayer(Tahajjaud), giving charity, etc.

For me, I enjoy reciting Quran after Fajr because my Lord says

 اِنَّ قُرۡاٰنَ الۡـفَجۡرِ كَانَ مَشۡهُوۡدًا

Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed[17.78]

Keep it simple & remain consistent and watch how putting Allah first lights up your heart.

Peace & blessings upon the Nabi of Allah.
